I am currently teaching my two youngest daughters how to drive. So, yes, if you see me, I may have a few more gray hairs than before! Though my older two daughters have graduated and are fine drivers, it’s an understatement to declare that, “every child is different!”
One of the hard things to learn in driving is how to “see” one’s blind spots. Learning to use one’s mirrors, leaning forward to get a better view, looking over your shoulder while staying in your lane, anticipating other drivers’ behavior, using shadows and lights to get clues, … all are secrets that you only gain from experience. But the best solution? An extra set of eyes that can literally see things the driver can’t.
Very often another set of eyes is helpful to identify the best choice in a given situation. As financial commentator Carl Richards says, “We all have blind spots. And by definition, it means we can’t see them.” One of the valuable benefits of working with a financial advisor is gaining another perspective, outside the limitations of what you can see by yourself, giving additional information to make better financial decisions and avoid costly mistakes.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve met with your financial advisor, call the office to set up an appointment. We’ll make sure no dangers are lurking in your blind spots!
